Abstract

In this paper the ancient «Lives» of the following poets, Lucanus (Vacca), Vergilius (Suetonius, Phocas), Terentius (Suetonius), Horatius (Suetonius), Persius (Probus) and Tibullus (Suetonius) are studied. The prodigies, the erotic elements and the physical portrait appear systematically among other narrative resources proper of the biographical genre. The main object of those resources is to achieve the moral characterization of the poet whose life they describe. The above mentioned resources are depending on rhetorical theory.
