Abstract

The notes here published are an attempt to show the complex development of the Greek Pentameter, especially from later Hellenistic age onwards until about A.D. 600. This is methodologically interesting as an instance of the questions originated by the rising of the new rhythmical patterns and the subsequent struggle against this natural process. The author looks into a few data, which are a reflection of this tension, and more in detail into several different phenomena concerning the dieresis. So, he has tried to complement the researches and results adduced by scholars as Haussen, Maas and Treu.
