The demonstratives reinforced by the deictic particle in the Corpus Aristotelicum: reasons for the exclusive use of ὁδί

This paper shows that there are striking differences between Aristotle and other Attic writers (Plato and rhetoricians) with regards to the demonstrative system. On the one hand, the form ὁδί is the only reinforced pronoun used by Aristotle, in contrast to the usual οὑτοσί of the 4th century, and even though οὗτος is also the most common demonstrative in Aristotle. On the other, the form ὁδί (a powerful tool for teaching philosophy in the hands of Aristotle) is employed for spatial deixis whereas οὗτος is always an anaphoric.
