Jason’s exhortation to the Argonauts at the conclusion of their undertaking recalls values peculiar to the archaic polis, of its civic spirit. But Apollonius’ wording evokes a more subtle reality. Some tracts of behaviour of Jason himself are connected to this parenesis, and also anticipations of Medea’s Corinthian drama.
