Abstract

Historical time is a cultural construct of great importance which in Thucydides’ time is taking its first steps. However, this aspect of his work has been relatively neglected in comparison with others, and its study has often been limited to the instrumental objective of integrating the chronological information he provides into our own chronological framework and conditioned by apriorisms and general ideas. This article sets out to analyse some of the main features of historical time in Thucydides as a necessary condition for an adequate assessment of his essential contribution in this respect, whose interest deserves its own independent study.
