Recent archaeological and epigraphic research about the Greek colony of Emporion, in the NE of Iberian Peninsula, provides critical data to assess the historical truth of the Strabo’s Geography fragment (111 4, 8) dealing about this Greek site in the Mediterranean West. Strabo’s statements about the stages building up the colonization process and about the debated problem of the δίπολις, improve their chronology and become more precise through the new epigraphic and archaeological findings.
