The rise of Greek Historiography takes place between the end of the VI century B. C. and the early years of the V century B. C. The logographi in search of the logos and the physiologi in search of the φύσις appear at the same time. Both confront a mythical tradition and try to discover the coherent and verisimilar element in myth. Historiography looks for the historicity of the real facts hidden inside myth. The result is a dialectic struggle between myth and history.
