This paper tries to show the proliferation of compounds in this kind of scientific prose. Compounds with the prefix δυσ- are analyzed in Hippocrates and Galen’s works, insistence being made on those terms which show a higher frequency index and on those which, on account of their peculiarity, do not appear in any dictionary or lexicon. The possibility of a word-formation process applied to the content takes shape in this instance. The intensification of the basic notion, its antonymic-semantic alteration, and its absence and deprivation are very marked functions of the mentioned prefix.
