«Quoei uita defecit non honos honore» (CIL I2 11). Nueva interpretación

Given the problems of interpretation raised by the text studied in this article, the author suggests a new semantic content for the verbal form defecit. Thus, through a structural semantic analysis the author suggests for this verb the meaning of ‘quitar’. Although this has disappeared from Latin, it represents a very old value which at some given time would have functioned as an alternative term to facio ‘colocar’ within the lexical field of «position».
