Symphosius is not the name of the author of the collection of a hundred riddles contained in the Anthologia Latina; in fact, the original title of the collection might well be the Aenigmata Symphosii by an anonymous author. Notwithstanding, it is possible that this author and that of the Historia Apollonii regis Tyri are one and the same person.
