Opposed to the traditional idea considering the phrase deuas corniscas in CIL I2 975 = VI 96, 30691 (deuas corniscas sacrum) to be a plural dative, the author of the present paper thinks it is a singular genitive in ās of the -ā declension. Neither considerations of a phonetic or morphological nature nor alleged parallelisms (such as anabestas and aestimias, very debatable by the way) can persuade the author to understand deuas corniscas as a plural dative. This inscription would show that a certain precinct is consecrated to the goddess Cornisca.
