Comments on C. Segal’s article, Emerita 49, 1981, on the Song of Iopas in Aen. I 740-747. There is no basis for a comparison of a conception of world-order expressed there and that expressed by Anchises in Aen. VI 724-751. There is a need to clarify what is meant by ‘based on the text’.
