Though C. P. is at first sight monotonous and lacking in variety, a remedy for this has been achieved by the renovation and re-elaboration of themes, This article shows at that lexical level uariatio, as a fundamental literary principle, not only avoids monotony but also attains the playful effects of Priapean poetry.
