In the first part of this paper the author establishes that in the early Lyric Poetry two lexical systems concerning the age exist: a general system and a particular one (Solon). The first one opposes the prime age or maturity of man (ἥβη) to the old age, and this system is symmetrical on the abstract and concrete substantive, but it is asymmetrical on the adjective. The second system distinguishes between the first youth and the mature age. The Tragedy follows both lexical systems but introducing novelties on the second system.
