Abstract

Rhodian personal names as: Ἀγλούμβροτος, with the spelling ΟΥ for the outcome of the hiatus a-o instead of Ω or ΑΟ, which appear in the older Greek dialects, can be explained if we assume that a-o had developed into e-o in Rhodian. We argue in our paper that verbal forms as τιμοῦντες could also benefit from the same explanation.
