Abstract

What is intended here is an approach of a statistical nature towards the different techniques by which the narrative thread is established and maintained in Roman historiographical prose. The different techniques are determined as well as the approximate frequency of each one of them in Caesar, De Bello Gallico I; Sallust, De Coniuratione Catilinae; Livy, Ab Urbe Condita I; Tacituas, Annales I and Agricola, and Suetonius, Diuus Iulius.
